| 00:03 | Hi everyone and welcome back to Career Reshaped. I'm Natasha and I'm Pauline. |
| 00:09 | And this week, instead of our usual deep dive, we thought we will take a peek |
| 00:16 | into what's on the mind of Australians when it comes to their careers. That's |
| 00:21 | right. We've been looking at the top career related Google searches in |
| 00:25 | Australia over the past few days and some of the results are really |
| 00:30 | interesting. Definitely, it gives us a real snapshot |
| 00:34 | of what people are considering, the challenges they're facing, and the |
| 00:38 | opportunities they're exploring. So, what caught your eye, Natasha? |
| 00:42 | Well, one thing that actually seems to be popping up a lot is career change |
| 00:46 | after 40. It looks like a lot of people are contemplating a shift later in their |
| 00:52 | working lives. Look, that does not surprise me. The job |
| 00:56 | market, it is constantly evolving, right? And the people's priorities can |
| 01:01 | change over time. Plus, with longer working lives, making a significant |
| 01:07 | career change in our 40s can still lead to a really meaningful, fulfilling |
| 01:13 | years in that. Absolutely. |
| 01:16 | Yeah. So, what kind of things do you think people are searching for in |
| 01:21 | relation to this and this change? Good question. Uh probably the things |
| 01:26 | that they'd be looking for are better career paths for career change or the |
| 01:31 | best career paths for career change with certain skill sets. How to write a |
| 01:36 | resume for career change to really show their transitional skills and |
| 01:40 | experiences and potentially even government support for career change |
| 01:45 | especially after the age of 40. Exactly. Yeah. Government that's huge. I |
| 01:50 | see a lot of people doing that and it does highlight the practical steps |
| 01:54 | involved in making such a big move as well. Um, another trend I have noticed |
| 02:00 | is a lot of the searches around remote work in Australia. It seems the desire |
| 02:06 | for that flexible work life arrangement is still really really strong. |
| 02:10 | Absolutely. That I mean our clients all the time talk to us about that or at |
| 02:14 | least hybrid opportunities. So it's not just remote jobs. It's also searches are |
| 02:18 | about companies offering fully remote roles in Australia and the rights for |
| 02:24 | remote workers in Australia because a lot of people do actually get confused |
| 02:28 | about do their rights change and there's even an increase in searches regarding |
| 02:34 | tax implications of remote work in Australia. It really shows that people |
| 02:38 | are thinking about the logistics and the long-term aspects of working from home. |
| 02:43 | Oh yeah, that's a great point. Basically, it's moved beyond just |
| 02:47 | wanting to work from home to understanding the intricacies involved. |
| 02:52 | I've also spotted a surge in searches related to specific industries. I'm |
| 02:57 | going to say that uh five times really fast. Searches, search and search. |
| 03:02 | Anyway, for example, um healthcare jobs in Melbourne um seems to be quite |
| 03:08 | popular. Yeah, absolutely. And there's a few other trending searches as well. um in |
| 03:15 | Melbourne and it aligns with the ongoing demand in the healthcare sector. I've |
| 03:19 | also seen similar trend searches in uh renewable energy jobs Australia and when |
| 03:24 | we're talking about specific states for Sydney, cyber security seems to be on |
| 03:28 | the increase in the searches. It indicates that there are different |
| 03:32 | growth and different industries within different states of Australia as well. |
| 03:37 | Yeah, that's fascinating to see that geographical |
| 03:41 | nuances as well. It really highlights that the job market can vary quite a bit |
| 03:47 | depending on where you are in Australia or where you're looking in Australia. |
| 03:52 | Absolutely. And that's a good reminder for people listening today that you need |
| 03:57 | to tailor your job searches to your specific locations and think about the |
| 04:02 | industries that are thriving in those locations. So maybe do you need to move |
| 04:07 | into state? That's another question that you could be considering when you're |
| 04:11 | looking at career change. That's a really good point and quite um |
| 04:16 | it's a good tip basically a fair tip. So from all this research that we've done, |
| 04:23 | what would you say would be the key takeaway? |
| 04:26 | I think it shows that Australians are actively thinking about their careers |
| 04:30 | even though they might not be talking about them. The Google search bar says a |
| 04:35 | lot of difference over there. just because it's all local. |
| 04:38 | Yes, that's true. That's a whole another can of worms. But it's basically, you |
| 04:42 | know, whether they're considering a major change or just seeking more |
| 04:45 | flexibility like remote work or hybrid work or looking for opportunities of |
| 04:50 | growing sectors within different states. They're using Google to research and |
| 04:55 | explore these options. Maybe ask a friend, have you Googled recently a |
| 04:58 | career change? And that's what we're here for at Career Reshaped, to provide |
| 05:02 | you with the information and insights you need to navigate your career |
| 05:08 | journey, whatever stage that you're at. We'd love to hear from you. What career |
| 05:14 | related questions have you been googling lately? I'd love to know. |
