| 00:05 | just be mindful of you know the technology that's being used to scan |
| 00:09 | your document and um and also don't pay at lip service don't do it just for the |
| 00:14 | sake of doing it i I'm I'm often quite surprised by some of the people that I |
| 00:20 | deal with whose job it is to create sales documents that have a rubbish CV |
| 00:25 | and I'm just like dude you you create this for a living do yourself don't do |
| 00:30 | yourself a disservice and pay this lip service and just whack some words on a |
| 00:34 | page this is a sales document where you are selling yourself to a potential |
| 00:40 | employer as a solution to their problem and take that approach hey it's Natasha |
| 00:45 | and I'm Pauline we're so pumped to bring you even bigger and better stuff this |
| 00:50 | season 2 of Career Reshape we've got new guests free master classes and all the |

| 01:06 | my.career.angels the thing is that um a resume is a very unique document there's |
| 01:12 | nothing like a resume out there and it's just like a job interview as soon as |
| 01:17 | people feel like they got to talk about themselves in in a very different |
| 01:22 | way they change who they are so you're right it's a sales document is no really |
| 01:28 | no different from any other sales document other than just the way it's |
| 01:32 | laid out and even though a person might be amazing at creating doc documents and |
| 01:37 | sales documents suddenly when it comes to the CV they fall apart same can be |
| 01:42 | said for an interview you can meet with someone and you have good uh rapport and |
| 01:47 | banter and they're really personable and as soon as they step into an |
| 01:51 | interview you environment they morph into somebody else they freeze up they |
| 01:56 | can't speak but it's just another conversation agreed agreed and and look |
| 02:01 | don't get me wrong you know when I built my large recruitment agency at our peak |
| 02:05 | were about 20 staff and I was interviewing recruiters on a regular |
| 02:09 | basis when I was building my team and I I was shocked personally ally at how |
| 02:14 | many experienced recruiters had absolutely rubbish CVs i was like really |
| 02:21 | you do this for a living you have seen hundreds or thousands of CVs how is this |
| 02:25 | what you've come up with each to their own and and what have you but um you |
| 02:29 | know that's why it's important to make sure that you do have a very well |
| 02:32 | ststructured CV as a matter of fact I had to create my own CV i had to um |
| 02:37 | format and create my own CV when I was looking to expand into Japan and and I |
| 02:41 | set up a Japan office in 2019 um part of the requirements for me to get a |
| 02:46 | recruitment license in in Japan was that I had to provide my CV to the department |
| 02:52 | of uh employment or whatever it's called over in Japan so that they could look at |
| 02:57 | me and go okay is this person uh worthy if you like of receiving a license right |
| 03:04 | so you know even I had to go through that process and how did it go did you |
| 03:08 | struggle I did I did right so you know make make no mistakes I did struggle But |
| 03:13 | at the same time the fundamentals were there it was it was role |
| 03:17 | responsibilities achievements and accomplishments roles responsibilities |
| 03:20 | achievements and accomplishments condense make it look nice and send so |
| 03:25 | you know just writing director of this business what the business does and then |
| 03:30 | you know owner of this business what the business does it just doesn't cut the |
| 03:33 | mustard when you're going through an interview process and and looking to |
| 03:36 | actually get a job obviously what I was looking to do was just simply give a |
| 03:39 | very high level understanding as to why I qualify for a license but um again it |
| 03:44 | was a sales document they could have if I oversimplified it they may have |
| 03:47 | rejected my application and then I you know would be in in a more precarious |
| 03:52 | position so u like I get it so a lot of people then seek help for writing a |
| 03:59 | resume you know they come to coaches resume writers but they also at times |
| 04:04 | use chat GTP GT yeah gt GPT yeah uh GPT thank you so can you tell when someone |
| 04:12 | hasn't written their own when then you talk to them like this is not the same |
| 04:17 | language you used or it doesn't feel as authentic or genuine not really to be |
| 04:21 | honest um you know I' I've never paid much attention to the formatting and you |
| 04:26 | know because the reality is as a recruiter um well at least in my |
| 04:32 | indust as a head hunter because I'm targeting people um I I sort of I know |
| 04:37 | what to expect from that CV and then I'm putting context around it so as long as |
| 04:41 | it's given me the basics and the things that I need it's okay um if if I was |
| 04:46 | putting job ads up and screening CVs would I notice it i don't I don't know |
| 04:50 | that I would for many many many years long before chat GPT and similar type of |
| 04:57 | um tools are out there there was always a a particular format of CV that you |
| 05:02 | would just see consistently you know and you look at go oh yeah it's another one |
| 05:05 | of those format you just visually it looks identical to hundreds of other |
| 05:10 | ones so they must be using some sort of template some sort of format that's put |
| 05:14 | in the details and it will spit spit it out using this format the trick like I |
| 05:18 | said is to have the right information and data in there um the right keywords |
| 05:22 | in there and then the rest comes down to conversations before we get into the |
| 05:26 | nitty-gritty of this topic we just wanted to check in and say that if you |
| 05:30 | believe that you need some assistance and that we could help you reach out to |
| 05:34 | us today check out our website join our newsletter we'd love to be in touch we |
| 05:38 | wanted to quickly mention that subscribing to the podcast is the best |
| 05:42 | way to support the show and ensure you never miss an episode it's super easy |
| 05:49 | just click the subscribe button whenever you're listening thanks for tuning in i |
| 05:54 | personally don't mind chat to chat GPT um I find that um it knows what it's |
| 06:04 | talking about in a very basic um way it doesn't necessarily go into a |
| 06:11 | lot of detail so you still obviously need to fill in the gaps the important |
| 06:17 | thing is is that you know what information is needed and where and the |
| 06:23 | output really is only as good as the input jtpt can only give you the right |
| 06:28 | stuff and the good stuff is if you feed it the right information but if you |
| 06:32 | don't know what information to feed then you are going to be still limited so |
| 06:36 | it's that's 100% correct it's a large language model right it's it's inputs |
| 06:40 | outputs it's data in data out i would recommend if somebody is a good LinkedIn |
| 06:44 | user but doesn't have a CV then you can absolutely feed your LinkedIn profile |
| 06:48 | into Jack GPT and say you're using this LinkedIn profile please format and |
| 06:52 | create a CV for me and it will spit out just about what you've got on your |
| 06:57 | LinkedIn profile and again if you've done a good enough job with a LinkedIn |
| 07:00 | profile the CV should be good but again um look I've used Chat GPT to write job |
| 07:04 | ads for example right um when I've posted job ads in the past what it spits |
| 07:09 | out is not specifically what I what I'm going to put out there but it does give |
| 07:14 | me a framework it does fill in some of those gaps but you know for me |
| 07:19 | personally and and people that are using it for their CV aren't going to be using |
| 07:22 | it the way that I do for example you know if I was to you know with with chat |
| 07:26 | GPT and those sorts of large language models you you can teach it to learn |
| 07:31 | your style your in intonations all of those different things that eventually |
| 07:36 | it'll get to a point where it will spit it out the way you spit it out right um |
| 07:41 | but if it's using it for a CV it's a single-use application so it's just not |
| 07:45 | going to do that you just can't train it to spit out your CV it takes too long |
| 07:48 | you may as well just write the CV i do find it somewhat limiting like I do use |
| 07:52 | chat GPT for like ideas and you're right it is a great framework like I've used |
| 07:57 | it um for our online courses for example i'm like what do I call it and I want it |
| 08:01 | to be really creative really catchy and I just my mind you know so I asked chat |
| 08:07 | GPT to give me some names ideas and I don't like them i said no give me |
| 08:11 | another list comes up with another list slightly better don't like it and it |
| 08:15 | just starts repeating the same information so it still is going to be |
| 08:20 | somewhat limited and basic in the language and in the information you can |
| 08:25 | give there still needs to be your personal creativity that comes into it |
| 08:30 | and so then you can use some of those words that could trigger something your |
| 08:35 | imagination it's there is something still to the human touch the human mind |
| 08:41 | because I can see a very like a pattern with the way it communicates the |
| 08:47 | language it uses and the it's not creative i would be honest with you so I |
| 08:54 | think that if you do want your resume to stand out in terms of someone that does |
| 08:58 | read the resume like you said earlier you've got some of your clients that |
| 09:03 | want to see your resume and will judge others that don't mind so the thing is |
| 09:08 | you don't know who's really reading it and what's going to be relevant to them |
| 09:14 | so it is better to have a good resume a resume that represents you so that also |
| 09:20 | means the way you communicate obviously in a professional way and invest that |
| 09:25 | time in there and have it not read then spit out a very basic something that |
| 09:33 | chat GPT has given you and then someone reading it and be like I've seen this |
| 09:38 | before like you were saying I've seen this template I've seen this and to my |
| 09:42 | point from before chat GPT isn't going to know again looking at a saleserson |
| 09:47 | they're not going to know your sales targets your achievements against |
| 09:49 | targets your your key accounts the data and information that I mentioned |
| 09:53 | for technical people it's not going to know what are your technical skills what |
| 09:57 | are you know what's your tech stack can it can it build a um you know a |
| 10:01 | technology matrix or a skills matrix it can't do any of that cuz it doesn't have |
| 10:05 | that information so again you know those sorts of those sorts of tools are good |
| 10:09 | tools to create a framework for what does it look like what how do we |
| 10:13 | separate the roles and what have you and then you can go in there and actually |
| 10:16 | make it usable |
